About Shire Security based in Northamptonshire
Shire Security Ltd was incorporated on the 13th May 1996 with Stanair Industrial Door Services Ltd as the holding company. This was the result of the takeover of a small local company, Shire Security, which at that time had been trading for 8 and a half years in the supply, installation, repair and maintenance of domestic burglar alarm systems.
The company has maintained its original services but has also expanded into the commercial market and added CCTV, Nurse Call Systems, Access Control, Fire Alarms, Fire Extinguishers, and Physical Security equipment to its product range, such as Collapsible Grilles, Roller Garage Doors, and Electrically Operated Roller Shutters.
Shire Security Ltd has already achieved:
- SSAIB recognition
- NACOSS recognition
- ISO 9002 certification
- IIP recognition in February 2000 and has been re recognised since, right up to current date
The company is now able to Uniquely offer “Layered Security” (physical and electronic) to its customers and plans to have an engineer operational from each of its holding companies depots (4 currently) within the mid term.

RedCare
RedCare is an alarm signalling network provided by British Telecom. It is considered to be one of the most secure and reliable forms of signalling available. Using an existing BT line, it continuously monitors an alarm system. It will also respond if the phone line is damaged or even deliberately cut. In addition, the RedCare system helps to reduce the number of false alarms by automatically checking that a fault signal is not just a few seconds electrical interference on the line, before raising the alarm.
The most current alarm signalling network is RedCare GSM. The control panel can send alarm signals to an alarm receiving centre over two separate paths (dual signalling). This ensures that signals will get through if there are faults on either the Red Care network or the GSM network. The Subscriber’s Terminal Unit is connected to the existing telephone line and continues to transmit an alarm activation even after your landline has been cut.
SSAIB
The Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) was set up by the concerted effort of a large section of the security installation industry. It is a non profit making organisation, whose sole aim is to protect the users of security systems against unsafe or unsound security installations. It achieves this objective by maintaining a Roll of Installers throughout the country who are Registered with the SSAIB
